TITLE DEFENSE
Vermont returns to the site of its first-ever America East Championship with hopes of defending its title from a season ago. The second-seeded Catamounts earned wins over No. 3 Binghamton (W, 13-12) and No. 1 UAlbany (W, 12-11) to capture the title.

FEELS LIKE '22
UVM's 2023 campaign has some similarities to its title-winning campaign from a season ago. The Catamounts suffered losses to UAlbany (L, 12-9) and Binghamton (L, 11-10). UVM will face Binghamton in the America East Semifinals for the second consecutive season at John Fallon Field.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Binghamton earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, suffering only one loss in league play to top-seeded UAlbany (L, 16-11) on April 15. The Bearcats earned a 16-8 victory over UMass Lowell in their most recent game on April 22. Binghamton was second in conference play in scoring offense (14.6) and scoring defense (10.2). Three Bearcats were named to the All-Conference First Team: Abby Carroll, Angelina Suau, and Goalkeeper of the Year Emily Manning. Five more Bearcats were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont owns a 15-8 all-time record against Binghamton, with wins in three of the last five meetings between the conference foes. The Catamounts suffered an 11-10 loss in Vestal, New York on April 1. Each of the last three meetings have been decided by one goal, including Vermont's 13-12 victory over Binghamton in the 2022 semifinals. Vasile netted the clinching goal with 7.8 seconds left to secure the first America East Tournament win in program history.

MAJOR AWARD WINNERS
The Catamounts won three of the six major awards –Â
Ava Vasile was named Co-Attacker of the Year,Â
Carolyn Carrera was named Defender of the Year, andÂ
Jane Trauger was named Rookie of the Year. The three major awards are the most in program history.Â

ALL-AMERICA EAST CATS
Five Catamounts also received All-America East honors.
Ava Vasile and
Carolyn Carrera were named to the All-Conference First Team.
Camille Argentieri and
Sophie McLaughlin received All-Conference Second Team honors. McLaughlin also picked up All-Academic honors for the third consecutive season.
Jane Trauger was named to the All-Rookie Team.

COMEBACK CATS
The Cats have mounted several sizeable comebacks over the past month. UVM trailed New Hampshire 11-9 entering the fourth quarter and outscored the Wildcats 7-2 in the final frame (Apr. 8). Vermont later found itself down four goals to Dartmouth on Apr. 18, before rattling off seven goals in the third quarter for a 13-11 victory. The Catamounts clinched an America East Tournament berth on Apr. 29 when they rallied from a seven-goal deficit at UMBC.

CHAMPIONSHIP COMEBACK
Vermont's most famous comeback came in the 2022 America East Championship game when the Catamounts erased a five-goal deficit to capture their first conference title.
Grace Giancola, now an assistant coach at UVM, led the Cats with a hat trick, scoring the tying and winning goals in the fourth quarter.
