COACH'S QUOTE
"A really tough loss," head coach Sarah Dalton Graddock said. "Credit to Albany for executing when they needed to and taking advantage of our turnovers. We need to be much better throughout all four quarters against conference opponents."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts and Great Danes exchanged goals in the opening frame with Vermont owning a one-goal lead after one quarter of play. UVM scored on all three of its shots directed on goal in the first stanza.
  • Ava Vasile netted the game's opening goal 2:29 into the contest to give Vermont the early lead. Sarah Falk quickly countered 2:23 later to knot the game at 1-1.
  • Maddie Erskine put the Catamounts back in front when she converted on a feed from Vasile with 6:20 left in the quarter. The sophomore's goal would keep Vermont in front for nearly three minutes, until Bryar Hogg scored a woman-up goal with 3:26 left to tie the game for UAlbany.
  • Vasile quickly responded for UVM, tallying her second goal of the game with 2:30 left in the first quarter to put the Cats up 3-2.
  • UAlbany rattled off four unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 6-3 lead into halftime. The Great Danes got contributions from four different goal scorers in the frame. Katie Pascale scored the marker that put UAlbany in front, up 4-3 with 7:00 left in the quarter.
  • Shonly Wallace stretched the Great Danes' lead to four goals when she netted a woman-up goal to open the third quarter.
  • Erskine ended the UVM scoring drought with 6:00 remaining in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 7-4. The attacker's goal was the first of four goals traded between the two teams in the final minutes of the frame. Vasile also scored for the Catamounts, but Falk put the Great Danes up 9-5 with 1:09 remaining.
  • Vermont pulled to within two goals in the early minutes of the fourth quarter with tallies from Meghan O'Connor and Erskine. O'Connor scored a free-position goal 1:07 into the frame and Erskine deposited her third goal of the game 0:35 later to cut the deficit to 9-7.
  • UAlbany responded with goals from Wallace and Hogg to lead 11-7 with 7:00 remaining.
  • Vasile scored twice in the final 6:18 in Vermont's comeback bid, but a goal from Falk maintained UAlbany's cushion.
