Men's Basketball Faces Dartmouth for 109th Time Wednesday Night at Patrick Gym

MEN'S BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK
Vermont (5-2) squares longtime non-conference foe Dartmouth (1-3) for the 109th time on Wednesday (Nov. 28). The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Patrick Gym. Tickets are available for purchase at UVMathletics.com/Tickets or by visiting the Patrick Gym Box Office on gameday. Wednesday's matchup is VIP Auto Night.
 
BROADCAST INFORMATION
The matchup between the Catamounts and Big Green will broadcast live on ESPN+ with Rob Ryan and Bernie Cieplicki on the call. An international stream will also be available on AmericaEast.TV. Fans can listen to the game for free on the Vermont Sports Network, from Learfield on The Game, which will air on 97.1 FM in Burlington, 105.9 FM in Plattsburgh, and 960 AM around the rest of the region. The radio broadcast is also available via the Varsity Network App with Brian McLaughlin on the call.

SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth enters Wednesday's matchup after falling 66-65 on the road at Saint Louis on Nov. 25. The Big Green were led by Dusan Neskovic, who scored 24 points in the one-point loss. Neskovic headlines the Dartmouth attack this season, averaging 16.5 points per game. Brandon Mitchell-Day (12.5 ppg) also averages double figures, and scored 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting against the Billikens. The Big Green have played the 28th toughest schedule according to KenPom, which includes games against Duke (L, 92-54) and UMass Lowell (L, 81-48). Dartmouth's lone win has come against Division III opponent Westfield State (W, 79-61).
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont's longest non-conference series dates back to Dec. 15, 1900 when UVM played its first ever varsity game, falling to the Big Green 46-10. Vermont owns a 50-58 record against Dartmouth, with a 28-24 mark in Burlington. The Catamounts have won 14 straight games against the Big Green, with an average scoring margin of +15.2.
 
UVM vs. IVY LEAGUE
Vermont is 91-102 all-time against Ivy League opponents, but has posted an 8-2 mark in its last 10 games. UVM's two losses during that stretch have come against Yale, who comes to Burlington on Saturday (Dec. 2).
 
HOT START
UVM has started exactly 5-2 for the fourth time since 2016-17. The Catamounts have captured America East Championships in each of those seasons (2016-17, 2019-20, 2022-23). Vermont's best seven-game start under Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach John Becker of 6-1 resulted in a runner-up finish in 2017-18.
 
MID-MAJOR RANKINGS
Vermont's start to the season led to a No. 19 ranking in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Cats were ranked No. 24 in the Mid-Major Madness "Other Top 25" but earned the No. 11 ranking in the Field of 68's "Cinderella Top 25".

Vermont has attempted a three pointer on 47.3% of its field goal attempts against Division I opponents, which is the 20th highest rate in the country. The Catamounts rank No. 12 in three-pointers per game (10.9).
 
VERETTO FROM DEEP
Matt Veretto has drilled 12 of his last 18 attempts (66.7%) from beyond the arc. The graduate student had a career-high six treys in each of his last two games and a career-high 23 points in games against VTSU-Johnson and Bradley.
 
SHAMIR'S DEFENSIVE NUMBERS
UVM guard Shamir Bogues ranks No. 17 in the country in steals (17) and No. 34 in steals per game (2.43). Bogues registers a steal on 4.5% of UVM's defensive possessions, which ranks No. 88 nationally. He has 176 career steals, which is No. 18 among all active D-I players
