#12 Vermont Clashes with #11 St. Lawrence in Home-and-Home Action

WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont will face No. 11 St. Lawrence in a home-and-home series this weekend. Game one goes Friday at 5 p.m. in Gutterson Fieldhouse, Saturday the teams' close the series at 3 p.m. in Canton, New York. All the action will be streamed live on ESPN+. All fans that bring a canned food item to the game will receive a free ticket to Pack the Gut on Friday, November 10 against Boston College. In addition, everyone who brings a canned food item will be entered to win a team-signed jersey.

CATAMOUNTS HOLD POSITION IN WEEKLY POLL
For the second straight week the Catamounts check in at No. 12 in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll. UVM was bumped up to 12th in the USCHO poll after previously coming in at No. 13.

ZARCONE, McPHERSON LISTED ON HOCKEY EAST TOP PERFORMERS
Natalie Zarcone scored her first career goal in Saturday's bout against No. 9 Clarkson. She was a plus-two on-ice rating as Vermont skated to a tie against their unbeaten opponents.
 
Jessie McPherson was a brick wall saving 57 of 63 shots in her two outings. She made 30 stops on Saturday including two huge saves in the exhibition shoot out to give Vermont the edge. It was her sixth time in her career reaching the 30 or more saves accolade.

VERMONT SELECTED SECOND IN HOCKEY EAST PRESEASON POLL
The Catamounts also matched their highest ever ranking in the Hockey East Coaches' Preseason Poll. After finishing in second last season with a conference mark of 16-8-3 UVM was selected by the coaches to place second again this year. The reigning six-time defending champion Northeastern was picked first.
 
CATAMOUNTS LEADERSHIP GROUP
Head Coach Jim Plumer has selected five student-athletes to lead the Catamounts during the 2023-24 campaign. 2023 World Championship bronze medalist Natálie Mlýnková will serve as captain for Vermont. The Catamounts will have four alternates this season with Hailey Burns, Sara Levesque, Maddy Skelton and Alaina Tanski. Skelton served as an alternate captain last season as well.
 
CZECH CAPTAIN IS BACK FOR MORE
Senior captain Natálie Mlýnková is the top returning scorer in Hockey East this season. She set new career highs in goals (23), assists (19) and points (42) last year.
 
OFFENSIVE TOUCH KEY TO HISTORIC CAMPAIGNS

Vermont scored over 100 goals in each of the last two years for the first time in program history on their way to back-to-back second place finishes in Hockey East with a program record of 22 wins in each campaign. Vermont returns 56.1% of its scoring from a year ago.
 
ROAD WARRIORS
Last season the Catamounts were 10-7-1 on the road, which matched a program Division I record with 10 road wins. The 2013-14 Catamounts who also made the Hockey East Semifinals were 10-7-2 on the road.

SCOUTING THE SAINTS
St. Lawrence comes into the weekend 4-0-0, tied with their best record to start a season in program history. The Saints swept two series at home against Mercyhurst and No. 15 Providence. The Scarlet and Brown have averaged 5.0 goals per game while only allowing 2.0 scores. The Saints' 20 goals this season have come from 11 different skaters.
 
Julia Gosling leads the team in scoring with five goals already on the season. Gosling is also tied for fifth in the NCAA with six assists. Emma-Sofie Nordstrom backstops St. Lawrence as she comes into the weekend with a 1.74 goals against average and a .936 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Vermont is 1-14-1 all-time against St. Lawrence. The last times these teams matched up was October 11, 2019 where UVM defeated the Saints 5-2 at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
