COACH'S QUOTE
"The team we played tonight is definitely a top team in the nation, and don't deserve to have zero wins," head coach
Rob Dow said. "They came out and were able to work through our midfield, but I really admired our leadership tonight. We went into halftime and talked about how we can close them down and put more pressure on them and we did, and created a ton of restarts. It's always nice to get
Alex Nagy back in the lineup and start producing, and putting
Max Murray back on the score sheet."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts struck first on Murray's third goal of the season, coming in the fourth minute. Murray converted on his own rebound after Nagy dished him the ball from just outside the 18-yard box. Â
- UC Irvine responded minutes later on a shot fired into the top right corner by Agaton Pourshahidi. The Anteaters' forward received a pass from Ricardo Ibarra at the top of the 18-yard box before finding the back of the net.
- UCI continued to pressure UVM over the opening half, until Nagy's 45th-minute goal that gave the Cats a 2-1 lead heading to the break. The midfielder's first goal of the season ricocheted off a UC Irvine defender to beat Luke Pruter (4 saves).
- The game tightened up in the second half with Vermont and UC Irvine exchanging only one shot on goal apiece in the 45-minute frame. The Catamounts had a pair of chances close to the UCI goal, including Joe Morrison's header from the top of the six that missed over the crossbar.
