COACH'S QUOTE
"Dartmouth is a physically difficult team to play against and we were happy to have the challenge leading into conference play," said head coach
Kristi Huizenga. "Some of the tests we have faced in these tough non-conference games we have had in South Carolina, URI and now Dartmouth will prove to be valuable as we head into conference play."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half started off slow with neither team able to build much momentum. The Catamounts got the attack going first with a corner in the third minute.
- The Big Green scored the first goal of the game coming on Allie Winstanley's fifth goal of the season. Mary Lundregan collected the ball down the right-hand side in the 23rd minute and put a cross into the box that that skipped past Erin Murphy and fell to her wide open in the 18-yard box and she tapped it into the back of an open net. This was Winstanley's third straight game with a score.
- Tessa Weiss had one of the best opportunities for the Cats' in the first half in the 41st minute just outside the 18-yard box, but a diving save to her left by Dartmouth keeper Charlotte Cyr kept the score at 1-0 going into the half.
- Dartmouth got the second half scoring started when Allie Winstanley was taken down about 25 yards out in the 47th minute. She was able to put the strike low and away from a diving Kylee Carafoli to extend the Big Green's lead to 2-0. It was Winstanley's team-leading sixth goal of the season.
- Dartmouth was almost able to extend their lead to 3-0 in the 64th minute when Hailey Rorick launched a shot that clanged off the crossbar.
- The Catamounts were able to cut into the lead in the 84th minute when Nicky Constant gathered an errant pass and sent it over to Remington outside the top of the box. Remington took the pass and put a lobbing shot to the left-hand side of the net out of the outstretched reach of Cyr. Remington's second goal of the season gave the game its final score of 2-1.
