Vermont (1-1) closes out its two-game homestand on Friday (Sept. 2) when it hosts No. 15 Syracuse (2-0) at Virtue Field. The opening kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and will broadcast live on ESPN+ with Brian McLaughlin on the call. SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse travels to Burlington for its first road trip of the season. The Orange have opened the 2022 campaign with home wins over Iona (W, 2-0) and No. 21 Penn State (W, 1-0). Midfielder Amferny Sinclair was selected to the ACC Preseason Watch List, with the squad picked fourth in the conference poll. Transfer forward Levonte Johnson was named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List after leading Seattle with 26 points (9 goals, 8 assists) in 2021. On the back line is Christian Curti who was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and Syracuse square off for the sixth time in series history, and the third time in Burlington. UVM has a 1-3-1 mark with 'Cuse, and an 0-1-1 record at home. The Catamounts visited the Orange last season, but suffered a 5-2 loss. Nacho Lerech and Matt Black scored on penalty kicks for Vermont.

The Catamounts were ranked No.1 in the United Soccer Coaches' Northeast Poll prior to kickoff on Tuesday afternoon. Vermont received 16 points in the National Poll.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nate Silveira was named America East Defensive Player of the Week following his four-save shutout in the season-opening win at Merrimack. The East Providence, R.I. native is one of only 10 goalkeepers in the country to record a shutout in the first week of the season.
