Game Notes: Vermont
LONG TIME, NO SEE
The Catamounts and Bearcats meet for the second consecutive game in Thursday's Semifinal matchup. Binghamton bested Vermont 11-10 in overtime on Saturday (Apr. 30) at Virtue Field.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont and Binghamton meet in the America East Tournament for the first time on Thursday. The Catamounts own a 13-7 all-time series lead against the Bearcats, with wins in two of the last three meetings. UVM has won the last two meetings with BU in the Empire State, defeating Binghamton 17-10 (2021) and 23-3 (2019) in Vestal.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Binghamton is led by All-Conference Second Teamer, Kenna Newman, who has 25 goals, 17 assists, and 42 points this season. Abby Carroll (26 goals) and Olivia Muscolino (32 points) received All-Rookie honors for the Bearcats. Emily Manning has been the main goalkeeper for BU, earning starts in all 15 games this season with a 12.95 goals against average and .403 save percentage.
ALL-AE CATS
Six Catamounts earned All-America East honors for their performance on and off the field this season.
Carolyn Carrera,
Taylor Mullen, and
Ava Vasile were the first trio of Catamounts since 2009 to receive All-Conference First Team honors. Junior defender,
Camille Argentieri was named to the All-Conference Second Team, and first-year,
Kendall Traveis was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Sophie McLaughlin rounded out Vermont's All-League honorees as a member of the All-Academic Team.
HUNT FOR HISTORY
The Catamounts are in search of their first win in the America East Tournament on Thursday night. Vermont will make its 10th appearance in the conference tournament, and second in as many seasons. UVM is a No. 2 seed in the tournament for only the second time in program history.
MORE HISTORY
The Catamounts can become the first team in program history to reach the 13-win mark with a victory over Binghamton on Saturday. Vermont's 12 wins currently match the program record, which was initially set in 2014.
AVA IN THE RECORD BOOK
Junior midfielder,
Ava Vasile has put up historic numbers for Vermont this season. Vasile is the first Catamount to score at least 50 goals in a single-season since Jessica Roach did in 2015. Her 53 goals this season rank No. 5 on the program's single-season list. Vasile also became the ninth player in program history to reach the 100-goal milestone. The Milford, Mass. native has 69 points this season, which ranks No. 3 on the program's single-season list.
CC AND THE CT'S
All-Conference defender,
Carolyn Carrera, has registered a career-high 45 caused turnovers this season. The senior averages a nation-high 3.00 caused turnovers per game, and has registered at least five caused turnovers in nine games this season.
