SCOUTING THE SAINTS
The Saints have opened the season with a pair of wins, most recently defeating Colgate 16-13 in a come from behind effort on Wednesday (Mar. 2). Siena was picked to finished second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Poll after posting an 11-3 (9-2 MAAC) record in 2021. The Saints finished second in the conference tournament for the second consecutive year, suffering a 12-8 loss to top-seeded Fairfield. The Saints had three players named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team including Emily Fiorillo, Nicole McNeely, and Mary Soures. Soures led the MAAC in points per game a season ago (3.14) and was named First Team All-MAAC.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts are 19-2 all-time against the Saints and 4-1 in their last five match-ups. The teams last faced each other in 2020 when Vermont defeated Siena 11-10 in a tightly-contested game at Virtue Field. The Cats were led by

Kerry Gerety returns to Loudonville after four seasons with the Saints. The fifth-year senior tallied 163 points (97 goals, 66 assists) at Siena and is the program's all-time leader in assists and draw controls (321). Gerety is also a native of Albany, New York.

SATURDAY'S HOME WIN
UVM rattled off a run of seven-straight goals in the middle of game, en route to a 10-6 victory over Wagner on Sunday (Feb. 27) at Virtue Field. The Catamounts secured their first win in a home opener since 2014.

Ava Vasile has tallied 14 goals through the first four games of the season, which is tied for the second-highest total in America East. The junior averages 7.0 shots per game, which ranks No. 2 in the league.

Vermont defender
Carolyn Carrera has caused seven turnovers on the defensive end for the Catamounts through the first four games of the season. The senior ranks No. 2 in the league in caused turnovers. She forced three turnovers in the season-opening win at Colgate (Feb. 12) and was named America East Defensive Player of the Week.
