SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Boston University begins its 2022 campaign on Wednesday against Vermont. The Terriers were picked fifth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll, tied with UVM's last opponent, Colgate. BU finished 4-6 (3-2 Patriot) last season and suffered a 15-13 loss to Colgate in the Patriot League Quarterfinals. Boston University lost its top three scorers from a season ago, but returns Jennifer Barry (12 goals, 6 assists) who was named to the Patriot League Preseason All-League Team. Arielle Hammer saw the majority of the time in net last season, posting a 13.95 goals against average and .322 save percentage in five starts.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts have beaten the Terriers three times – a 12-11 win in the first ever meeting back in 1984, a tight 9-7 victory in Boston in 1987, and a 15-5 rout in Burlington in 1996. The former America East foes met once last season. UVM suffered a 12-10 loss to BU last season at Virtue Field.
Dani Paterno (3 goals, 1 assist) and
Taylor Mullen (2 goals, 2 assists) tallied four points each to lead the Catamounts.
Sophie McLaughlin registered 13 saves as Vermont's goalkeeper.

CARRERA EARNS WEEKLY HONOR
Carolyn Carrera was named America East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday (Feb. 14) for her performance in Vermont's season-opening win at Colgate. The senior caused three turnovers and scooped up a league-high seven groundballs to help the Catamounts defeat the Raiders 17-8.

SIXES AT COLGATE
Ava Vasile and
Riley Halloran each produced a career-high six points in UVM's season opener on Saturday. Vasile posted her six points on four goals and two assists. The midfielder has the second-highest goal total in the league to start the season. Halloran tallied her six points on two goals and a league-high four assists.

SEASON OPENERS
Saturday's win at Colgate marked the fourth-straight season that Vermont had registered a win in its first game of the season. UVM registered wins over Hartford (2021), Merrimack (2020), and Colgate (2019) prior to this season. In the last four season openers, Vermont outscored opponents by an average of 7.5 goals per game.
