WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The Catamounts will close out the first semester with a two-game series at Syracuse this weekend. 13th ranked Vermont will face the Orange at 6 p.m. on Friday night and again at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Both games will be broadcast live for free on Cuse.com. Jared Johnson will call the action both days joined by Jeremy Striano (Friday) and Matt Kibby (Saturday).

MLYNKOVA COLLECTING MONTHLY ACCOLADES
Junior forward Natálie Mlýnková was named Hockey East Player of the Month for November and the Hockey Commissioners Association named her National Co-Player of the Month. In November Mlýnková took over the Catamounts lead in scoring with seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in seven games. Her 2.0 points-per game was best among all players in Hockey East while her 14 points was tied for fourth nationally in November. She also picked up her first career hat trick in a 6-1 win at Maine on November 4. With her offensive surge in the month she is currently tied for second in Hockey East in scoring with 25 points.
MURPHY NAMED HOCKEY EAST DEFENDER OF THE MONTH
Graduate defenseman
Ellice Murphy was named Hockey East's Army ROTC Defender of the Month. Murphy was the most productive defender in the league in the month of November with seven points. Her seven points were tied for second in the NCAA in the month. Her plus-eight rating was also third among all defenders in the country. She recorded two multi-point outings, one game-winning goal and a power play goal. As a team, the Catamount held their opponent to two or fewer goals in six of their seven games.
McPHERSON BACKSTOPPING THE CATS

Jessie McPherson is tied for fifth in the NCAA with 10 wins this season. She has maintained a 2.15 goals-against average which is 22nd in the NCAA. McPherson has 29 wins in her career at Vermont, she is approaching Madison Litchfield's (2013-17) program record of 32.
LONG CHANGE, LONG PERIOD
The Catamounts have been most effective this season during the second period, when both teams have the long change. UVM has outscored its opponents 25-9 in the second and outshot teams 204-120.
OFFENSE AND DEFENSE AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS
With 3.3 goals-per game the Catamounts offense ranks eighth in the NCAA. Vermont has scored five or more goals six times in 19 games this season. Vermont is giving up just 2.1 goals per game which is tied for 11th best in the NCAA.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse is 7-11-1 this season and 5-2-0 at home at the Tennity Ice Pavilion. Syracuse has won its last five home games. The Orange are 0-8-0 this season against ranked opponents losing by a combined score of 34-9 to Penn State, Colgate, Clarkson and Princeton. Last weekend the Orange fell 11-3 and 4-0 at No. 12 Penn State.
Sophomore forward Madison Primeau and graduate forward Lauren Bellefontaine are tied for the team lead for Syracuse with 15 points apiece. Primeau is the teams' top scorer with nine goals. Syracuse can be very dangerous shorthanded, they've scored four times down a skater this season, which is fourth in the NCAA.
SERIES HISTORY
UVM leads the all-time series against the Orange 4-2-1. Four of the seven matchups have been one-goal games. UVM is undefeated in the last five contests. Last season at Gutterson Fieldhouse the teams tied 1-1 in the first game before defeating the Orange 5-1 in the second contest.
Theresa Schafzahl had a goal and two assists in the series to lead the Catamounts.

CZECH-MATES EARN BRONZE
Vermont forwards Tynka Pátková & Natálie Mlýnková earned bronze medals at the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championships in Denmark in September. Czechia defeated Switzerland 4-2 in the bronze medal game behind two goals from Mlýnková. It was Czechia's first-ever medal on the women's side. Former Catamount Blanka Skodova was also a member of the team.

Krista Parkkonen (Finland) made her World Championships debut while
Sofie Skott (Denmark) and
Sini Karjalainen (Finland) competed in their second World Championship at the senior level.
