SCOUTING THE GAELS
Saint Mary's was tabbed as the No. 2 team in the West Coast Conference Preseason Poll, behind perennial powerhouse Gonzaga. Seniors Alex Ducas and Logan Johnson were named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. The Gaels have made it to the NCAA Tournament in four of the last seven seasons, and reached the second round in 2021-22. Saint Mary's was ranked No. 3 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25, and received votes in the NCAA's Coaches' Poll. SMC opened the season with a 78-70 victory over Oral Roberts, with rookie Aidan Mahaney scoring a game-high 25 points.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Thursday night will be the first ever meeting between Vermont and Saint Mary's. UVM guards
Dylan Penn and
Finn Sullivan have visited the Gaels as members of other programs. Penn recorded 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting at McKeon Pavilion a season ago with Bellarmine. Sullivan will be facing Saint Mary's for the sixth time in his career after five previous meetings while playing for San Diego. He recorded 10 points in a 2020 matchup with the Gaels.

LOGGING MILES
Vermont begins a stretch of eight straight road games away from Patrick Gym. The Catamounts will log over 8,400 miles in the month of November.

The Catamounts will be tested on their California swing with three games against three NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago.

DELONEY'S BIG NIGHT
Aaron Deloney's career-high 32 points in the season opener came on a super-efficient 11-for-14 shooting night. The senior was the first Catamount to register a 30-point outing since 2020. His 32 points were the fifth-highest single-game total on opening night of the Division I basketball slate. His career-high came in his first collegiate start.
