NASSAU, Bahamas – A strong offensive game led Long Beach State (4-3) to a 78-58 win over Vermont (2-7) on Sunday night at Baha Mar Convention Center. The matchup was the Consolation Game of the 2022 Nassau Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Long Beach State opened the game on a 15-3 run over the first 8:13 to take a quick double-digit lead. Aboubacar Traore and Joel Murray led the Beach in their early run.
- The Catamounts countered with a 10-2 run to cut the deficit. Matt Veretto sank a corner three to pull back to within single digits, and Robin Duncan finished a layup to make the score 17-13 with 8:28 left in the half.
- Marcus Tsohonis scored seven points in the final 3:15 of the half for Long Beach State to fuel an 11-2 run that gave the Beach a 41-27 lead at the break.
- Vermont started the second half with quick bucket from Dylan Penn. The fifth-year senior drove to the rack and finished a layup just 0:08 into the frame. Penn drew a foul and sank his free throw for the three-point play. Â Â
- Long Beach State continued to hold its double-digit lead over the Catamounts and extended it to 20 points on a layup by Tone Hunter that put the Beach up 66-46 with 7:36 remaining.
- Michel Ndayishimiye scored his first career points in the final minute. The redshirt first-year finished a strong take at the rim and made a free throw for the and-one. Â

- Kam Gibson and TJ Hurley led the UVM offense with 10 points each. Gibson was 4-for-9 from the field and sank 2-of-5 attempts from deep. Hurley was 3-for-8 from the field, and 2-for-6 from long range.
- Sam Alamutu had eight points on 3-of-5 shooting. He also pulled in three rebounds.
- Ileri Ayo-Faleye led Vermont in rebounds with six boards. Robin Duncan had a team-high three assists.
