SCOUTING THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton earned its first win of the season on Friday (Nov. 11), defeating Pepperdine 74-71 at Titan Gym. The Titans opened the season with an 80-57 loss to No. 25 San Diego State. CSUF was picked seventh in the Big West Conference after losing its top-three scorers from a season ago. The Titans were Big West Champions in 2021-22, and fell to second-seeded Duke (L, 78-61) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Jalen Harris has led the Cal State Fullerton attack early, averaging 18.5 points in the first two games of the season. Vincent Lee is the leader on the glass, picking up 7.0 boards per game, while averaging 11.5 points.
Â
INSIDE THE SERIES
Sunday's meeting is the first between the two programs.
Finn Sullivan is the lone Catamount to have played against the Titans, scoring five points as a member of San Diego in 2019.
Â
CATS VS. THE BIG WEST
The Cats will face a Big West opponent for the second time in program history. Vermont has a 1-1 record against Big West foes, splitting with UC Santa Barbara in 2015. UVM fell to UCSB 64-57 on the road and 2014-15, with the Catamounts taking a 78-65 victory at Patrick Gym in non-conference play the following season.
Â
THE LONGTIME CATS
Only three Catamounts have been with the program for more than two seasons:
Robin Duncan,
Aaron Deloney, and
Nick Fiorillo. The UVM trio has combined for only 54 career starts.
Â
CAREER-HIGHS FOR ROBIN
Robin Duncan checked off career-highs in several categories Thursday (Nov. 10) at Saint Mary's. The fifth-year made six field goals, and two triples in the contest. His 14 points were his highest against a Division I opponent.
Â
LOGGING MILES
Vermont enters the second of an eight-game stretch away from Patrick Gym. The Catamounts will log over 8,400 miles in the month of November.
