COACH'S QUOTE
"Today was a good bounce back win for us," Head Coach Jim Plumer said. "We needed to step up and compete for 60 minutes and we did just that. Congrats to Theresa Schafzahl who broke the all-time points record on the game winner and continues to be a force in every game. And I'm happy for Jessie McPherson for getting her first shutout of the season."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Schafzahl netted her program-best 106th point on a 4-on-3 power play late in the first period to give the Catamounts a 1-0 lead. The fifth-year senior fired a wrist shot over the glove of Madison Beck (34 saves) after receiving a pass from Sini Karjalainen. Natálie Mlýnková was credited with the secondary assist.
  • The UVM captain scored her second goal of the day 4:57 into the second period. A give-and-go between Mlýnková and Schafzahl brought the Cats into the Crusaders' zone, with the latter beating Beck glove side. Anna Podein sparked the breakout to earn the secondary assist.
  • Lily Humphrey added an insurance marker with 5:57 to go in the third period for her first goal of the season. Humphrey's tally was the 14th of her career. The senior's shot came from between the hash marks after receiving a drop pass from Lara Beecher. Karjalainen registered her second assist of the game on the goal.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Schafzahl is now the program leader in goals (55) and points (107). The senior only needs five assists to pass Amanda Pelkey (56) for that record.
  • The Catamounts outshot the Crusaders 37-13 in the victory. Mlýnková tallied nine shots to lead Vermont.
  • Jessie McPherson registered 13 saves in her fourth career shutout.
  • Podein and Beecher both registered their first career points with their assists.
  • With today's win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to COTS, the Committee on Temporary Shelter, as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. Since the campaigns inauguration in 2017, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group has donated over $72,000 to local non-profits.
