PLAYING SMART
Coming into today's matchup the Catamounts have been one of the most disciplined teams in the America East. Vermont has committed the second least fouls, collected the least cards (just three yellow in 11 games), and have been called offside the least. UVM has also been consistent in creating pressure on opposing teams with 55 corners (second most in AE) and 183 shots (third most in AE).

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Hartford enters Wednesday's game with an 8-1-1 record having won three consecutive games. The Hawks are 4-1-0 on the road this season having only lost at Saint Francis in Brooklyn on August 25. Hartford is led by junior Imani Jenkins who has been on fire this season registering multiple points in every game but one. Jenkins has 14 goals and three assists thus far for a remarkable 31 points. Makaela Montgomery-Williams is second on the team with three goals and two assists, while Senior Ishani Sharma has contributed seven points on two goals and three assists. Junior Christina Stone leads the team with four assists. The Hawks are anchored in net by Sophomore Abigail McCarthy who has allowed just a 1.00 goals against average with 54 saves and an .844 save percentage with seven wins this season.

INSIDE THE SERIES
This matchup will start a new chapter as Hartford is no longer in the America East Conference and will be the 41st all-time matchup. Hartford leads the series with a 29-6-5 record. The first game of the matchup was played in 1986 in Burlington where the Catamounts won 3-1. Throughout the history of the series Vermont is 4-10-3 at home against the Hawks. The two teams last faced each other on October 10, 2021, where the Catamounts defeated Hartford 2-0 in West Hartford. Prior to that, the Hawks had held the longest unbeaten streak in the series having gone 8-0-2 against the Catamounts from 2012-2019. Frances O'Donnell scored on an assist from Karen Wallace in that 2021 victory.

UP NEXT
Vermont will return to conference action when they host Maine on Sunday, October 9. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN3 with Brian McLaughlin on the call. Sunday's matchup will be Senior Day presented by the Alumni Association. We encourage fans to arrive early as we will be recognizing our seniors and their contributions to the program pregame.
