NEWARK, NJ – Vermont (4-9-2, 0-5-2 AE) fell on the road 2-1 to NJIT (4-7-6, 1-4-2 AE) in a hard fought battle in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon. Despite constant pressure in the second half the Catamounts were not able to overcome an early second half goal from the Highlanders.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- NJIT scored first in the game with a goal from first year Riley Jones in the 22nd minute to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead.
- NJIT continued their pressure with an early second half goal in the 45th minute from Bailey Chant on an assist from Ciara Adams.
- The Catamounts would not go away as less than three minutes later Vermont answered with a goal from Jill Brody to narrow the lead to 2-1.
- UVM almost tied it in the 59th minute on a header from Kate Bossert off a cross from Abbey Knobel but it bounced off the outside of the left post and the score stayed at 2-1.

- Vermont outshot NJIT 18-6, holding a 6-3 shots on goal advantage.
- The Catamounts held the advantage in corner kicks 5-2.
- Jill Brody scored her third goal of the season and recorded two shots on goal.

Following today's matchup Vermont will return home to host UAlbany for their final game of the regular season. The Catamounts will play UAlbany at Virtue Field on Thursday, October 27 at 6 p.m. With the loss to NJIT UVM was officially eliminated from America East Playoff contention making Thursday the final game for the Catatamounts in 2022.
