COACH'S QUOTE
"Credit to Colgate for starting the game strong and asking our defense a lot of questions," said Dow. "I'm proud of the guys for weathering the storm for bouts of the first half. We played more on our forefoot in the second half which overwhelmed Colgate's midfield, resulting in two goals from our midfield players. We are looking forwards to being back at Virtue Field on Tuesday."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The non-conference counterparts played a scoreless opening 45 minutes. The Raiders tested Nate Silveira (2 saves) in the early minutes. Silveira made a diving stop against John Muckstadt in the 14th minute. The UVM goalkeeper turned away Ryan Kreuger from just outside the six-yard box minutes later.
- Vermont pushed back in the waning minutes of the first half. Nacho Lerech's attempt from inside the 18-yard box narrowly missed high in the 30th minute. A header by JoJo Moulton-Condiotti in the 43rd minute was stopped by Nick Gerlach (5 saves) leading to a corner kick.
- The Catamounts broke the game open in the 67th minute when Yves Borie deposited the first goal of his NCAA career. As Colgate failed to clear a cross attempt, Jacob Vitale delivered a header to Borie from just outside the six-yard box where he fired a shot into the lower left corner.
- Alex Nagy added the insurance marker in the 78th minute with his second goal of the season. The senior fired a low, spinning kick under a diving Gerlach. Arian Pilja was credited with the assist.
