SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Vermont (5-3-1, 0-1-0 AE) struck twice on penalty kicks, but Syracuse (5-4-1, 1-2-0 ACC) took a 5-2 victory at home on Tuesday night at SU Soccer Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Syracuse went on the offensive early with a pair of goals in the first eight minutes. Giona Leibold scored the first goal for the Orange in the third minute. Colin Biros then put 'Cuse up two early in the eighth minute.
- The Catamounts cut the lead in the 12th minute on Nacho Lerech's fourth goal of the season. The Vermont forward drew a hard foul in the 18-yard box and converted on his second penalty kick of the season.
- Syracuse quickly retook a two-goal lead in the 13th minute on Francesco Pagano's third goal of the season.
- Matt Black netted his second goal of the season in the 55th minute after earning Vermont's second penalty kick of the night. The graduate student sent a kick that beat Lucas Daunhauer (6 saves) in the lower right corner to pulled Vermont back to within a goal.
- The Orange quickly countered with a goal from Max Kent in the 59th minute to regain another two-goal lead. Curt Calov added one more tally in the 83rd minute for Syracuse's final goal of the night.
