PROMOTIONS
Sunday is the women's soccer programs' annual Rally Against Cancer game. Members of the team will be wearing lavender to support the fight against all cancers.
Sunday is also Team Poster Day presented by UVM Print & Mail. Following the contest fans are encouraged to get their posters signed by the student-athletes.
HOME IS WHERE THE WINS ARE
After a difficult stretch of games away from Virtue Field the Catamounts will be happy to be home again. UVM is an undefeated 2-0-1 on-campus this year. UVM has scored six goals in its three home tilts.
GREAT WALL OF KESSEL
Senior goaltender
Lydia Kessel has continued her excellent play for UVM this season. She is currently tied for second in America East with 51 saves. She's played seven contests this year and leads the league with 7.29 saves per game.
BASA AND OVIEDO LEAD THE WAY
Cricket Basa and
Alyssa Oviedo are tied for the team lead in scoring with five points. Both have registered two goals and one assist this year for the Catamounts. During the abbreviated spring 2021 campaign Basa was also Vermont's leading scorer.
SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES
The unanimous preseason favorite in the 2021 America East Coaches' Poll the Seawolves have won the last two America East Tournament championships. Stony Brook is 4-4-1 this season but has won three straight contests entering Sunday's action. The Seawolves defeated UAlbany 2-1 last Sunday in their conference opener.
Stony Brook has yet to earn a win on the road this season. They are 0-4-1 away from home and have only scored once in those five contests. The Seawolves have scored eight goals during their three-game win streak.
SERIES HISTORY
The Seawolves have a narrow edge in the all-time series between the Catamounts with a mark of 15-14-1. Stony Brook pulled ahead in the overall series with their 3-1 win over UVM last April at UMass Lowell in the America East Semifinals.
Frances O'Donnell scored the Catamounts only goal of that contest 52 seconds into the action.
Cricket Basa earned an assist on the goal.
