Vermont men's soccer continues its non-conference slate on Friday (Sep. 3) at Colgate. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Beyer-Small '76 Field in Hamilton, New York. The Catamounts look to continue their hot start after opening the season 2-0 for the first time since 2016.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate enters Friday night with a 0-2 record after a pair of losses to America East opponents last week. The Raiders suffered a season-opening overtime loss to Binghamton on August 26 before falling to reigning America East champions New Hampshire on August 29. Ryan Krueger has the lone goal for Colgate this season. The Raiders were selected sixth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll for the 2021 campaign.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont owns an 8-6-2 all-time record against Colgate. The two squads last met in 2019 when the Raiders took a 1-0 double-overtime victory at Virtue Field. UVM's last win over the Raiders came in 2013 when Brian Wright '17 scored his first of 39 career goals, which ranks second all-time at Vermont.

CATS IN THE RANKINGS
The Catamounts were ranked second in the Northeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches. The first edition of this season's regional poll had Vermont behind conference foe New Hampshire. In the national poll, the Catamounts were outside of the top 25, but received 11 votes.

Catamount newcomer
Nacho Lerech opened up his UVM career with five points (2 goals, 1 assist) in Vermont's season-opening week. The Argentina native netted the game-winning goal at Iona, and tallied a second-half goal on the road at Lehigh. No stranger to offense, Lerech posted the third-highest goals per game in Division II last season at Newman University.

SILVEIRA EARNS WEEKLY HONOR | Release
Goalkeeper
Nate Silveira was named America East Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning. Silveira recorded his sixth-career clean sheet in Vermont's season-opening 2-0 win at Iona. The East Providence, Rhode Island native added two more saves in over 78 minutes of action in Sunday's 3-0 victory at Lehigh. Â

HERMANN TROPHY WATCH LIST | Release
Vermont duo,
Alex Nagy and
Noah Egan, were named to the Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List. The Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious award in college soccer, presented annually to the nation's top Division I soccer player. The pair of Catamounts are two of 44 players across NCAA Division I to earn the preseason honor, and are two of only three players from America East on the list.
