SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN
UMass enters Saturday's matchup riding three straight wins, including a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime victory over Central Connecticut State on Wednesday. Atlantic-10 (A-10) Preseason All-Conference member Filippo Begliardi Ghidini scored twice in the win. The graduate student is tied for the team lead in points (6) with Joe Leslie. Marvyn Dorchin has a 0.69 goals against average and .800 save percentage in four games played this season. UMass was selected fourth in the A-10 Preseason Poll after finishing 7-2-3 last season and earning an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP
Vermont and UMass square off for the 38th time in series history and the first time since 2017. The Catamounts own a 21-10-6 all-time record against the Minutemen and are 4-3-3 in their last 10 trips to Amherst. Tight competitors, the non-conference counterparts have gone to overtime in three of the last six meetings in the Commonwealth. UMass took the previous meeting in 2017 by a score of 2-1.

Vermont goalkeeper Nate Silveira has a spotless 0.00 goals against average in four games played this season. Only three other goalkeepers have played three or more games without allowing a goal. Silveira's 15 saves on the season is the most among the nation's goalkeepers with a perfect 1.000 save percentage. The senior has three clean sheets on the season, which ranks in a tie for second in the country.

The Catamounts own a plus-9 goal differential, which ranks fourth in the nation. Vermont trails only nationally ranked teams, which include No. 2 Clemson (+14), No. 4 North Carolina (+13), and No. 16 Akron (+11). UVM's plus-9 mark is currently tied with No. 21 Lipscomb.
