COACH'S QUOTE
"Our facilities staff did an amazing job getting the field ready to give us this opportunity to play," said head coach
Kristi Huizenga. "This non-conference game was a great opportunity for us to get several players minutes and experience. We will rebound from today and get ready for Sunday at Maine."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts appeared to open the scoring in the 16th minute from a snowy Virtue Field. Alyssa Oviedo played a one-touch through ball to Cricket Basa in the box who calmly slotted home the finish. The linesmen ruled the play just offside.
- The Bearcats broke the scoreless tie in the 27th minute with Ivana Pjetri's first goal of the season. Olivia McKnight played a perfect through ball in the box to Pjetri and she poked the ball past UVM's Lydia Kessel to make it 1-0.
- Just 36 seconds later Binghamton's Stefania Piantadosi doubled the Bearcats lead. Piantadosi scored her third goal of the season from 20 yards out. She fired a high-arching shot that hung up in the wind and found the top corner for Binghamton.
- The Bearcats quick strikes in 36 seconds set a new program record for fastest two goals.
- Vermont's best chance to cut into the Bearcats lead came in the 51st minute. Alexa Mihale redirected an Ella Bankert clearing attempt to send Basa in alone on Binghamton's Mackenzie Hanna. Basa tried to punch a hard-low shot past Hanna but was unsuccessful.
