LOWELL, Mass. – For the second time in three days, the Vermont men's soccer team earned a 1-0 conference victory over UMass Lowell on Friday afternoon thanks to
Jacob Vitale's first-career goal. The Catamounts completed the three-day sweep and stay unbeaten at 3-0-1. The River Hawks are left searching for their first win and drop to 0-5-0 overall, plus 0-3-0 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vitale's decisive goal came in the 34th minute. The Catamounts set up a free kick and booted a ball into the box. After some ping-pong action, Alex Nagy chipped a ball up to Vitale, who snuck a shot inside the far post.
- In the last minute of the first half, Zach Barrett's header was labeled for the top right corner but was denied by UML goalie Jacob Heihsel.
- Two minutes into the second half, Evan Rouleau tried to double the lead but his header missed just wide to the left.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Vitale is the second Catamount to tally a first-career goal this season. Noah Egan scored his first collegiate goal against NJIT last Friday.
- Nagy has registered at least one point in two out of the last three games.
- Vargas earned his first-career clean sheet in his first-career start and stopped two shots.
- With the sweep, UVM leads the all-time series against UML 4-2-3.
