WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont (7-6-2, 4-2-1 HEA) returns to conference play this weekend as they travel to face New Hampshire (5-8-2, 3-7-1) at the Whittemore Center in Durham. Puck drop is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, both games will be broadcast live for free at CollegeSportsLive.

BLAIS-SAVOIE NAMED HOCKEY EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
First year forward
Evelyne Blais-Savoie was named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week by Hockey East on Monday.She netted the second goal of her collegiate career on Saturday, helping Vermont complete a 5-1 victory over Syracuse. She closed out the scoring with a nifty individual effort in the final minute of regulation. Blais-Savoie knocked down a clearance attempt in the Orange's zone and skated into the slot before wiring a shot off the post and in for her second of the year with just 21 seconds remaining.
OFFENSE IN DROVES
In Vermont's last four games they've scored 16 goals. In three of the four they matched a season-high with five. No surprise the Catamounts are 3-0-1 in those four contests. In the last four games, since returning from Olympic qualifying
Theresa Schafzahl has led the way with three goals and seven assists.
POULIN-LABELLE LEADS CATAMOUNTS OFFENSIVE ATTACK
Senior defenseman
Maude Poulin-Labelle leads the Catamounts in scoring with five goals and seven assists this season for 12 points. Her numbers are boosted by a historic performance at Merrimack on November 21. She recorded the second hat trick of her career. She's the fourth Catamount in program history to record two or more hat tricks in her career. Allie Knowles, Dayna Colang and
Ève-Audrey Picard were the other three.
PK PROWESS
The Catamounts own the nation's 12th ranked penalty kill this season, boasting an 88.9% success rate. Vermont has only allowed four goals while shorthanded this season, and has scored once while on the penalty kill –
Natálie Mlýnková against RPI (Oct. 2). The 2018-19 Catamounts finished the season with the nation's top penalty kill at 87.4%. Vermont is on 11 teams in the country to have allowed four or less goals shorthanded this season.
DISCIPLINE AMONG THE CATAMOUNTS
In addition to the Catamounts excellent penalty kill they have also done a fantastic job staying out of the penalty box. UVM has just 74 PIM this season, an average of 4.93 per game. Only Saint Michael's has been penalized less this season, albeit in five fewer contests.
THAT'S A WRAP ON NON-CONFERENCE PLAY
With Vermont's 1-0-1 weekend hosting Syracuse the Catamounts have concluded the non-conference portion of its schedule with a record of 3-3-1 in the seven games. Three of the seven games required overtime.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
UNH played three games during the week of Thanksgiving. On Tuesday night, they fell 3-2 hosting No. 10 Harvard then on the weekend they swept a weekend series at Union by a combined score of 11-1.
Senior Wildcats defenseman Maddie Truax was named Hockey East Defender of the Week with two goals and an assist in the Wildcats wins over the Dutchwomen. She also leads Hockey East in blocked shots this season with 42.
Senior goaltender Ava Boutilier stopped 43 of 44 shots last weekend at Union, and earned her 13th career shutout. Boutilier made 30 saves in a 2-0 shutout win over Vermont in the team's last meeting on December 20, 2020.
SERIES HISTORY
The Catamounts are 15-29-6 in the all-time series with the Wildcats as the conference foes square off for the 51st and 52nd time this weekend. The teams split the season series 1-1-0 last year in two contests at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
CZECH CATAMOUNTS QUALIFY FOR THE 2022 OLYMPICS
Sammy Kolowrat '19, Natálie Mlynková and Tynka Pátková qualified for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics last weekend in Chomutov, Czech Republic. The Czechs went 3-0 in Group C to qualify defeating Poland, Hungary and Norway. Kolowrat scored two goals in the three games, Mlynková posted one goal and three assists and Pátková posted an assist.
