OVIEDO NAMED AE CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior midfielder
Alyssa Oviedo was named America East Co-Offensive Player of the Week Monday. The Clifton, NJ native scored a goal in both of Vermont's league wins last week over Maine and NJIT. Oviedo is the Catamounts leading scorer this season with four goals and one assist for nine points.
RETURN TO THE NUTMEG STATE FOR AYER
First year midfielder
Bailey Ayer will return to Connecticut for the second time this season to play in her home state. An Andover, Conn. native Ayer was a force in high school soccer in the area. As a junior, she helped lead RHAM to a 13-1-2 regular-season record and the top seed in the Class L tournament. She was named All-State in her junior and senior campaign. In her first collegiate game in Connecticut she recorded an assist against Quinnipiac on September 8.
KESSEL IN FORM FOR STRETCH RUN
Senior goaltender
Lydia Kessel has posted back-to-back clean sheets for the Catamounts in wins over Maine and NJIT. She leads America East averaging 6.4 saves-per-game. Kessel's 6.40 mark is good for 20th in the NCAA.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
The Hawks had their seven-game unbeaten (5-0-2) streak snapped at Binghamton last Sunday in 1-0 decision. The defeat was Hartford's first since falling at Texas Tech on August 26. Hartford is 7-2-2 this season and 2-1-1 in league play. They are currently in third place in America East with seven points, one point ahead of the Catamounts.
Sophomore forward Imani Jenkins is third in America East with six goals this season. Her teammate Chloe Layne sits fifth in the league with five tallies. In addition, Hartford's Saige Bingman and Kelly Severini are both top-10 in the league in assists with three apiece.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday afternoon will be the 40th meeting between the two teams. Hartford leads the overall series 29-5-5. The Hawks are 8-0-2 in the last 10 meetings with Vermont. The Catamounts picked up their last win in the series in a 2-0 decision on October 18, 2012.
