BURLINGTON, Vt. – Five Catamounts reached double figures led by
Isaiah Powell who had 19 points as Vermont defeated crosstown foe Saint Michael's 105-60 in its first exhibition contest of the 2021-22 season on Saturday afternoon at Patrick Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Powell had 10 points in the first five minutes as UVM built an 12-7 lead in the early going. Midway through the half he scored back-to-back baskets as UVM extended its lead to 32-14 with an 8-0 run.
- Finn Sullivan, Ben Shungu and Aaron Deloney all hit three pointers in the final 3:37 of the first half and UVM took a 22-point edge to the break.
- The Green & Gold extended its lead with a 14-0 run over 4:15 of game action early in the second half. Shungu led the way in the spurt with four points while Kam Gibson also added his first points for UVM in the run which saw UVM lead 71-38 with 13:07 left in the second half.
- Vermont used a 15-1 run to close out the game with Evan Guillory hitting four consecutive free throws and Michel Ndayishimiye hitting his first three-pointer as a Catamount.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Catamounts showed off their depth in exhibition play, 13 Catamounts played nine or minutes Saturday. UVM's bench scored 59 of the Catamounts 105 points.
- Vermont reached 100 points for the first time since the 2017-18 campaign. That season UVM defeated Saint Michael's 102-53 on November 4 in exhibition play.
- Kam Gibson, Finn Sullivan, Evan Guillory, Sam Alamutu and Michel Ndayishimiye made their Catamount debuts Saturday at Patrick Gym.
- 2,438 fans attended the contest at Patrick Gym it was the first time in 599 days UVM had played a home contest in front of fans.
- With today's win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Vermont Foodbank as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative. Vermont Mutual has committed to donating $15,000 to Vermont Foodbank for the 2021 season. A special thank you to Vermont Mutual Insurance for their support.
