VESTAL, N.Y. – The UVM men's basketball earned its first weekend sweep of the season with an 84-44 win at Binghamton on Sunday afternoon. Vermont has won its last three games and stands at 5-3 on the year. The Bearcats drop to 1-10 overall and 1-7 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVM and Binghamton traded buckets through the opening minutes but the Catamounts gained separation near the 12-minute media timeout. Leading 10-8, the Green and Gold produced a 17-3 run in a four-minute span and pushed the margin to 27-11.
- Vermont's lead ballooned to 20-plus with two minutes left in the first half and went into halftime with a 43-22 advantage. The Cats shot 48.3% (14-for-29) in the opening frame and outscored the Bearcats 18-10 in the paint.
- UVM kept its foot on the gas pedal in the second half with a 20-4 surge in seven minutes to pad the lead to 65-31 by the 12-minute media timeout.
- The lead grew to as large as 44 points in the final period. In the second half, the Cats had a 56.0% field goal percentage and their defense stymied the Bearcats to a mere 17.0%. The Green and Gold also canned seven three-pointers and had 41 bench points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The victory was a complete team effort as all 13 players who stepped on the floor scored a point. Tomas Murphy tallied a team-high 13 points, his highest total as a Catamount, and he shot 4-of-6 from the floor.
- Isaiah Powell had a solid game with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting. He gathered three boards and dished out one assist. For the weekend, Powell shot 11-of-16 (.687) from the field including 3-of-5 from long range.
- Ryan Davis finished the game with nine points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes. The junior connected on 3-of-5 field goal attempts.
- With the two-game sweep, UVM has won its last 13 meetings with Binghamton and leads the all-time series 37-8.
- When the Cats Win, Community Wins. With each Catamount win, Vermont Mutual Insurance donates $100 to a local non-profit. For 2020, they donated $15,000 to Spectrum Youth and Family Services.
