100 AND 700
The Class of 2020 earned their 100th-career win on Saturday at UAlbany and became the second graduating class to hit the century mark. Last year's senior duo,
Ernie Duncan and
Samuel Dingba, hold the all-time record with 106 career wins. After beating the Great Danes, Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker also improved his Division I career winning-percentage to .700 (210-90). From the 52 coaches hired in 2011-12, he tops the list which includes Iowa State's Steve Prohm (.676), Maryland's Mark Turgeon (.672), Florida's Michael White (.668), and Indiana's Archie Miller (.652).
CONFERENCE PLAY RECAP
With the first half of conference play complete, the Green and Gold stand at 7-1 for the fourth consecutive year and fifth time under Becker. The Cats also lead the league in scoring defense (59.8), scoring margin (+14.0), three-point percentage (37.4%), free throw percentage (76.7%), fewest rebounds allowed per game (28.6), and rebounding margin (+9.1).
AMERICA EAST HONORS
Anthony Lamb was named America East Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday. He guided the Catamounts to a pair of victories last week with wins over New Hampshire and UAlbany. The Rochester, New York native averaged 26.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 blocks per game for the week.
SCOUTING MAINE
The Black Bears are in the midst of a three-game skid but have lost each contest by 10 points or less. During league play, Maine has pulled down the second-most offensive rebounds (89) and has the fourth-best three-point percentage defense (33.2%). Sergio El Darwich is one of America East's top scorers. The senior sits at No. 7 with a 17.7 conference scoring average. After missing two games with a broken finger, he returned on Saturday and recorded a team-high 15 points. Overall, Andrew Fleming leads the team with 14.9 points per game. In his last five games, he has posted 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts have won the last 18 meetings, their longest active streak against an America East opponent, and lead the all-time series 74-70. The 144 games between the two programs is the second-longest standing rivalry in school history, trailing only a 155-game series with UNH. Two weeks ago, UVM held on for a 59-57 win in Bangor behind
Ryan Davis' career-high 22 points.
