FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Vermont had seven different players score a goal on its way to a 9-7 win at Sacred Heart on Friday afternoon. The Catamounts stand at 2-3 on the year after wrapping up a three-game road trip.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pioneers used 52 seconds of game clock to score the first goal of the contest, but the Catamounts answered with five unanswered goals. The run included goals from Erin Kloostra, Dani Paterno, Maris Large, MacKenzie Bolt, and Molly McDonough as UVM held a 5-1 advantage at the break.
- Sacred Heart netted a pair of goals to start the second half, but UVM responded once again with three straight scores and stretched its lead to 8-3 with 11 minutes left on the clock. Taylor Mullen started the surge at the 15:54 mark and Ava Vasile added a goal 2:23 later, then Large capped off the run with her second goal of the day.
- In the final seven minutes, SHU made a strong push to even the score. Emma Kittredge took advantage of a Vermont penalty for the woman-up goal. After Vasile countered with her second goal of the game at the 5:43 mark, the Pioneers scored the last three goals of the afternoon to draw within 9-7.Â
GAME NOTES
- Large and Vasile guided the offensive attack with two goals each. Large scored on her only two shot attempts and picked up two ground balls. Vasile won 12 draw controls and caused four turnovers.
- Bolt added a multi-point game with one goal and one assist. She also recorded a team-high four ground balls.
- Dani Paterno matched the trio with two points on one goal and one assist. She logged three ground balls and caused a turnover.
- Goalie Sophie McLaughlin picked up the win and registered eight saves.
