REGULAR SEASON TITLE
With Stony Brook's loss on Wednesday, Vermont secured its fourth straight outright America East regular season crown and the top overall seed in the 2020 Hercules Tires America East Tournament. UVM is the first team in league history to win four consecutive outright titles. The 2020 trophy is the 10th overall regular season conference championship for the Cats, tying Northeastern for the most ever.
NO. 3 STARING DOWN NO. 5
Anthony Lamb is 16 points shy of passing former Catamount great Marqus Blakely for No. 5 on the school's all-time scoring list. Lamb has scored 1,860 career points while Blakely netted 1,875 points during his time in Burlington.
12-GAME RUN AND BOUNCING BACK
The Cats' 12-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the UMBC last weekend. Nationally, the streak was tied for the fourth-longest in conference play and sixth-longest overall. It marked the fourth time under Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker and sixth time in school history that a Vermont team posted a winning streak of at least 12 games. However, UVM has done a nice job of bouncing back from losses in recent years. Vermont is 20-5 following a loss since 2016-17, including 10-1 in the last two years.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks are in the midst of a hot streak after winning three out of their last four games. UML has the top overall scoring offense and team field-goal percentage in the league. UMass Lowell averages 74.9 points per game and has drained 45.8% of its shots. Christian Lutete and Obadiah Noel are the top scoring tandem in the conference. Lutete is the America East frontrunner with a 19.2 scoring average. He has averaged 16.3 points per game in his last three contests and finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine boards in Wednesday's 88-69 upset over UAlbany. Noel ranks fourth in the conference with 18.1 points per game. The junior guard has scored double digits in 28 of his 29 games played with eight 20-point efforts in conference play.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The River Hawks swept the season series from the Catamounts in 2015-16, but the all-time series has belonged to the Green and Gold since UML transitioned to the Division I level prior to the 2013-14 campaign. UVM has an 11-2 upper hand and has won the last seven meetings. In late January, Lamb tallied his seventh 20-point game of the season in a 92-62 win at Patrick Gym.
