SMITHFIELD, R.I. – A strong second half from Vermont was not enough as Bryant held off the Catamounts for a 12-8 win in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon. The Catamounts slip to 1-2 while the Bulldogs improve to 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs struck first less than a minute-and-a-half into the game, but Catamounts answered a short time later. MacKenzie Bolt weaved through three defenders in the crease and found the equalizer.
- Bryant took a 2-1 lead at the 19:47 mark but Taylor Mullen netted her first goal of the contest two minutes later as the Cats tied the game once more.
- The Bulldogs responded with three unanswered goals in a six-minute span for a 5-2 lead. Mullen added her second goal of the afternoon with 10:24 left on the clock, but Bryant notched two more goals within 53 seconds of each other.
- Ava Vasile ended the run with her eighth goal of the year near the four-minute mark to cut the margin to 7-4, which stood at the break.
- In the second half, the non-conference foes traded scores for the period. Leading 10-8 with 8:39 left to play, the Bulldogs stretched their lead to 12-8 with two more goals three minutes.
GAME NOTES
- Riley Halloran posted her first collegiate multi-goal effort with two goals. She led the team with three points with an assist to compliment her pair of scores.
- Mullen recorded her fourth-career multi-goal game and first of the season with two goals.
- Vasile mathed Mullen with two goals and picked up a ground ball.
- Dani Paterno was the team's top facilitator with two assists.
- Sophie McLaughlin registered six saves and scooped up five ground balls.
