LAMB IN HIS HOME STATE
Anthony Lamb has torched teams when playing in his home state of New York. The senior has averaged 15.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game with three double-doubles in 13 career games. He has shot 47.9% (69-for-144) from the floor and he has helped the Cats to a 12-1 record. This year, he has posted 20.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in the Empire State.
IT STARTS WITH DEFENSE
UVM has held its opponents to 58.5 points per game this season, the third-lowest scoring defense in the country. The 58.5 mark is the lowest by a Vermont team since 1950-51 when the Catamounts kept their opponents to 53.7 points per game. In conference play, the Green and Gold have surrendered 60 or fewer points eight times.
BOUNCING BACK
Since dropping the America East opener to Stony Brook, the Catamounts have won 11 straight games which is tied for the fifth-longest overall winning streak in the nation. The Cats have held their opponents to 55.9 points per game and have recorded a +17.6 scoring margin.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK
Stony Brook sits second in the conference standings right behind Vermont with losses to Hartford (L, 68-65), Binghamton (L, 83-79), and New Hampshire (L, 81-64).
SBU has the highest three-point shooting percentage in the league (34.5%) while boasting a stingy defense that ranks second behind the Catamounts in field-goal percentage defense (39.0%). Offensively, the Seawolves are paced by Elijah Olaniyi with 18.9 points per game – the second-highest scoring average in America East. However, Olaniyi missed the Binghamton game with a high ankle sprain. Makale Foreman is also in the league's top 10 with 15.3 points per game and Andrew Garcia sits at No. 13 with a 13.2 scoring average
. On the defensive end, Mouhamadou Gueye is America East's top shot blocker with 2.0 swats per game.
INSIDE THE SERIES
In January, Stony Brook walked away from Patrick Gym with an 81-77 win and snapped Vermont's seven-game winning streak in the all-time series. Despite the defeat, the Green and Gold lead the head-to-head series 31-12. In each season during the 2010s, either the Catamounts or Seawolves appeared in the America East Championship Game. The rivals faced one another in the 2012 and 2016 title games with a split record.
