VESTAL, N.Y. – The Vermont women's soccer team made a late push to tie the game but dropped its conference opener 3-2 at Binghamton on Sunday afternoon. The Catamounts slip to 2-5-1 overall and start America East play at 0-1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts took advantage of a corner kick and jumped out to an early lead in the sixth minute. Natalie Durieux hooked a ball into the center of the box for Christina Barry who knocked it into the right side of the net.
- Binghamton countered with the equalizer five minutes later. Dora Hayes found some open space from 30 yards out and drilled a shot under the crossbar.
- The Bearcats added their second goal of the afternoon in the 22nd minute. UVM netminder Kacey Lambertson made back-to-back diving saves at close range but Essie Bonney finished the rebound opportunity with sliding strike from 10 yards out.
- In the 49th minute, Binghamton tacked on its third goal after Ivana Pjetri buried a cross from Stefania Piantoadosi.
- UVM inched closer in the 84th minute with Karen Wallace's second goal of the season. Frances O'Donnell lofted a feed into the center of the field and Wallace tracked the ball down on the right side of the box, then chipped a shot back to the far post for the score.
GAME NOTES
- Barry's goal was the third of her career and seventh collegiate point.
- Lambertson recorded five saves in the contest.
- The loss snapped a four-game winning streak against the Bearcats, but UVM still leads the all-time series 10-9.
