HELLO AGAIN
For the second consecutive year, the Catamounts will get America East play underway against the Bearcats. The league rivals also began the league slate against one another back in 2005 and 2006 as well.
JENKINS VS. THE BEARCATS
Brooke Jenkins has fared well against Binghamton during her Catamount career. Last year, the graduate senior netted the game-winning goal late in the second half to give the Green and Gold a 1-0 win at Virtue Field. One year earlier, Jenkins scored what proved to be the decisive goal with eight minutes left to lift sixth-seeded Vermont to a 1-0 victory over second-seeded Binghamton in the 2017 America East Semifinal. The win sent the Catamounts to their first ever America East title game appearance.
REVISITING THE AMERICA EAST PRESEASON RANKINGS
UVM and Binghamton were chosen back-to-back in this year's America East Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Cats landed at No. 6 with 26 points while the Bearcats followed at No. 7 with 24 points.
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON
The Bearcats posted a 6-2-1 mark during non-league play and ride a three-game unbeaten streak into the weekend. Binghamton owns the highest-scoring offense in America East with 37 points (13 goals, 11 assists) thanks in large part to Olivia McKnight. The freshman leads the conference with 11 points and shares the top spot with four goals. Essie Bonney follows with eight points and has matched McKnight with four scores, including two game-winners. Goalie Haylee Poltorak has logged a 0.98 goals-against average, the fifth-best by an America East keeper, and has denied 29 shots.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts have won five straight over the Bearcats and six of the last seven overall. The recent streak has helped UVM claim a 10-8-0 all-time edge. In the five victories, UVM has kept Binghamton off the scoreboard three times. Sunday's match will be the earliest the two programs have ever met in a season.
