PETER BALDWIN MEMORIAL GAME PRESENTED BY MORGAN STANLEY
Friday's match is the Peter Baldwin Memorial Game presented by Morgan Stanley as a part of a soccer doubleheader with the women's team. Baldwin, a 1968 graduate and 1984 UVM Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, guided the Vermont men's soccer team to three straight Yankee Conference titles and currently ranks fifth on the school's all-time scoring list with 68 points (29 goals, 10 assists). Head coach
Rob Dow will select one player to wear Baldwin's No. 11 jersey in his honor based on the Catamount who best exhibits the work ethic, sportsmanship, and leadership that Baldwin held in high esteem.
ADDITIONAL PROMOTIONS
The matchup with the Crimson is also Youth Day. All kids ages 12 and under wearing a soccer jersey will receive free admission into the game. Fans are encouraged to stick around after the game to Kick with the Cats, also presented by Morgan Stanley, on Virtue Field.
CLUTCH TOBINSKI
Freshman forward
Rasmus Tobinski has produced two game-winning goals in the last three games. He netted his first collegiate goal in a 1-0 win at DePaul last Sunday and came through with the decisive score in Monday's 1-0 victory at Quinnipiac – UVM's first ever win against the Bobcats.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Crimson dropped their first two matches of the season, both to nationally-ranked ACC opponents. The season began with a 6-0 setback at the hands of No. 20 North Carolina last Friday, then a 3-0 defeat at No. 5 Duke two days later. Harvard returns 13 student-athletes from 2018 including three of its top five scorers. The Crimson offense was fueled by the freshmen tandem of Alfred Perez and Nico Garcia-Morillo last year. Perez notched two goals while Garcia-Morillo had three points on one goal and one assist. In net this season, Bob Harraka has earned the start in both matches and has made 15 saves.
The Saints have fallen in three out of their four games to begin the year but will look to rebound at Stony Brook on Friday night. Alejandro Riquelme ranks No. 11 in the country with four assists and has scored a goal to lead the squad with six points. Aaron Martin and Conor McGlynn trail with four points apiece. Martin has found the back of the net in each of his last two outings and while McGlynn racked up all of his points in a 4-2 win at Saint Francis on Sept. 1. Netminder Greg Monroe has logged a 2.68 goals-against average and has stopped 20 shots.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Friday night is the 12th meeting and rubber match between the Cats and Crimson. The series is deadlocked at 5-5-1 as UVM has won the last two contests. Most recently, Vermont walked away from Cambridge with a 2-0 victory in 2017 thanks to two second-half goals.
UVM has dominated the series with Siena and holds a 10-1 edge. The Cats won the first seven matchups before the Saints ended the streak in 2009, but the Green and Gold have rebounded with three consecutive victories. Vermont has found its offensive rhythm against Siena by outscoring its regional rival 25-5 with eight clean sheets.
