Sarah Dalton will select one player to wear Cox's No. 23 jersey. Cox, a 2015 UVM Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, graduated as the all-time leader in points (173) and goals (133). She was tragically killed in a car crash in February of 2015 at the age of 31.
RALLY AGAINST CANCER PRESENTED BY INSPIRED CLOSETS
Saturday's matinee is UVM's annual Rally Against Cancer game presented by Inspired Closets. Fans are encouraged to wear lavender, the universal color that represents the fight against all cancers, to support the cause. The first 150 fans will receive a free t-shirt.
PROMOTIONS
Youth fans ages 12 and under can receive free admission by wearing a lacrosse jersey.
CATS VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
Vermont has reached the win column three times against ranked opponents. UVM knocked off No. 14 New Hampshire 9-8 on April 9, 2008. In a triple-overtime thriller, the Catamounts took down 15th-ranked Dartmouth 16-15 on March 27, 2013. The Green and Gold also beat No. 15 Stony Brook 8-7 in overtime on April 26, 2014.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK
The five-time defending conference champions have jumped out to 3-0 start in America East play after playing a very competitive non-conference schedule. The Seawolves faced four ranked teams during the non-league slate plus Stanford, who was receiving votes at the time. Stony Brook will visit Burlington as the 20th-ranked team in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) weekly poll. The Seawolves are also one of the top statistical teams in the nation. Stony Brook has committed 12.4 turnovers per game, successfully cleared 91.3% of its attempts, held opponents to 7.9 goals per game, and owns a +6.4 scoring margin – all four stats are among the top-10 nationally in their respective categories. Ally Kennedy, an Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American, holds a share of the league lead in goals (34) with UVM's
Elise Koehl. The junior has notched a hat trick in five out of her last six games played. Goalie Anna Tesoriero has logged the seventh-best goals-against average (8.38) in the country. In conference play, the senior has only given up 3.0 goals per game.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts will try to end a four-game skid against the Seawolves. Stony Brook leads the all-time series 12-5, but UVM has earned three victories in Burlington. Saturday's meeting at Virtue Field will mark the seventh straight matchup where Stony Brook has been ranked in the national polls.
