KOEHL ADDS ANOTHER WEEKLY HONOR
Elise Koehl earned her second straight America East Offensive Player of the Week nod on Monday. The Arlington, Virginia native recorded eight goals and handed out two assists in a split 1-1 week for the Catamounts. She guided the team with five points on four goals and one assist in a 16-5 rout of Central Connecticut State last Wednesday. The 5-7 midfielder capped off the week with a duplicate four-goal, one-assist performance in a tough 14-13 loss to UMBC on Saturday.
CATS IN THE RECORD BOOKS
In the setback to the Retrievers, Koehl became the 18th Catamount to record over 100 career points. Fellow senior
Jenna Janes also hit the career century mark with 100 career goals on Saturday. The Baltimore, Maryland native has tallied the eighth-most goals in school history and moved into an eighth-place tie on the program's all-time points list (137). Goalie Maddie Kuras already sits at No. 5 on the career wins list (19), but she has also climbed to No. 7 with 128 career ground balls and 423 career saves. The UMBC defeat snapped a five-game winning streak – tied for the second-longest ever at UVM.
CATS ON THE ROAD
The Catamounts have spent over half of the season on the road and have fared well in the process. UVM has an unblemished 6-0 record away from Burlington this season – tied for the fourth-longest active road winning streak in the nation behind Boston College (15), Maryland (12), Liberty (8).
NCAA RANKINGS
Vermont has one of the top offenses and defenses in the country. The Cats rank in the top-25 nationally in nine categories. The Green and Gold stand at No. 7 in assists per game (8.0), No. 11 in scoring margin (5.78), No. 12 in points per game (22.56) and scoring defense (8.78), No. 15 in scoring offense (14.56), No. 18 in draw control percentage (.564), No. 24 in free position percentage (.452), and No. 25 in shot percentage (.444) and shots per game (32.78).
SCOUTING UALBANY
The Great Danes have jumped out to a 2-0 start in conference play with wins over UMass Lowell and Binghamton. UAlbany was selected to finish second in this year's America East Preseason Coaches' Poll behind five-time defending champion Stony Brook, but did receive one first-place vote. The Great Danes have netted the most goals (150) and points (223) among teams in the league. Sam Tortora paces the conference with 43 points and sits second with 28 assists. Kyla Zapolski ranks second in America East behind Koehl with 32 goals this season and she is locked into the top-five in points (36). Georgia Schneiderith has started every game this season and has surrendered 99 goals.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts are seeking their second win against the Great Danes as UAlbany leads the all-time series 20-1. Vermont reached the win column in 2008 with a 11-10 America East victory in Burlington. Sarah DeStefano's unassisted goal with 1.8 seconds left in the game helped the Green and Gold reach the win column.
