America East Quarterfinal: Tickets
REGULAR SEASON CROWN SECURED
The Catamounts beat rival Stony Brook 56-50 on Saturday night to capture their third consecutive America East regular season championship and locked up the top overall seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The regular season crown was the ninth in school history and the Green and Gold moved into sole possession of second place for the most regular season titles in league history behind Northeastern (10). Vermont is the fourth team to complete an America regular season three-peat and first since Boston U (2001-04). The Cats are also one of 11 teams in the country to capture four regular season championships in the last six seasons.
AMERICA EAST QUARTERFINAL TICKET INFO
Top-seeded Vermont will face eighth-seeded Maine on Saturday (March 9) in the America East Quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Tickets are on-sale now and can be purchased online by
clicking here or in-person at the Patrick Gym Box Office. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will also receive a free t-shirt.
SENIOR NIGHT
Before the game, UVM will honor its graduating seniors with a Senior Night ceremony presented by Aerie Consulting and the UVM Alumni Association. The Class of 2019, comprised of
Ernie Duncan and
Samuel Dingba, hold the program's all-time wins record with 102 career victories.
NEW ENGLAND'S BEST
For the third straight season, Vermont will close out the regular season with the most wins by a New England team. Northeastern follows in second with a 20-win campaign and Yale is close behind in third with 19 victories.
CATS IN REGULAR SEASON FINALES
The Catamounts are 5-2 in regular season finales under Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker. Vermont has won three straight finales and have beat its opponents by an average of 16.4 points in the five wins.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
The River Hawks have struggled in the home stretch of conference play with a 1-3 record in their last four games, but have secured the No. 5 seed in the upcoming America East Tournament. UML's 15 wins this season are the most since transitioning to the Division I level prior to the 2013-14 season. UMass Lowell has the highest scoring offense (77.6) and best team field-goal percentage (47.4%) against league opponents. Christian Lutete ranks second in the league behind
Anthony Lamb with an 18.6 conference scoring average. He has hit the 20-point mark in three out of his last five games. Obadiah Noel boasts 14.6 points per game this season and has scored double figures in four straight games.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont has won eight of the 11 all-time meetings against UMass Lowell including the last five. UML's pair of wins came as a part of a season sweep in 2015-16. UVM's 100-93 loss in the Mill City on Feb. 8, 2016 prompted an America East record-setting 24-game conference road winning streak which stood until two weeks ago when the Cats fell to UMBC. Last month, Becker earned his 100th-career conference win as the Cats held off the River Hawks 74-65.
