WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior midfielder
Jon Arnar Barðdal became the first Catamount to record a hat trick since 2016 as a part of a 5-1 rout at Holy Cross on Tuesday night in the non-conference finale. The Cats will return to the league slate with a 10-5 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts netted the first of their four first-half goals in the 29th minute. Frosti Brynjólfsson booted a free kick to the far post where Arnar Steinn Hansson leaped and knocked in his first collegiate goal.
- Barðdal doubled the lead in the 36th minute. The senior worked his way into the box from the right side, then drove a low line drive inside of the far post.
- Late in the half, UVM scored twice in a two-minute span. In the 42nd minute, Hans Oeftger gathered a loose ball in the center of the box and toed a low shot into the right side of the net from 10 yards out. One minute later, Barðdal intercepted a clear attempt by Holy Cross goalie Nick Clonku (4 saves) on the edge of the box and wrapped a shot inside of the right post from 20 yards out.
- Barðdal completed the hat trick in the 51st minute with a bullet under the crossbar from 10 yards out.
- In the 81st minute, Holy Cross' Max Krause spoiled the possible clean sheet by getting a friendly bounce off a UVM defender on a free kick from 25 yards out.Â
GAME NOTES
- Barðdal is the first UVM player to net a hat trick since Brian Wright '17 accomplished the feat against Rider in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
- Goalie Nate Silveira earned his third win of the season and made three saves.
- The Catamounts had its highest single-game offensive output since netting five goals against Stony Brook in 2008.
- The victory snapped a three-game skid in non-conference finales.
- UVM has won at least 10 games in each of the last five seasons. Â
- With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont; bringing this year's total to 88 wins and $8,800. Â
