HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts nearly capitalized on a corner kick in the 11th minute. Alex West lofted a kick in front of the net. After the ball bounced around in the box, Karen Wallace tried to head a shot inside of the near post but the ball clanked off the right upright.
- The Seawolves took advantage of a corner kick of their own near the midway point of the first half. Catharina von Drigalski drilled a kick in front of the net and Alyssa Francese knocked a header straight up in the air. As the ball came down, Francese tapped the ball under the ball with another header.
- Late in the second half, Vermont came close to finding the equalizer. Natalie Durieux bent a cross from the right side of the field towards the far post. Ella Bankert fought off a defender on the receiving end and tried to tap in the game-tying score, but SBU goalie Sofia Manner (2 saves) dove to her right to make a goal-line save.
- Stony Brook added an insurance goal in the 88th minute after Erin O'Connor and Fanny Gotesson worked a breakaway from midfield. O'Connor dribbled up the right side of the field and dished a low feed into the box for Gotesson, who fired a line drive into the right side of the net.
