RALLY AROUND MENTAL HEALTH GAME
Tuesday is UVM's annual Rally Around Mental Health (RAMH) Game, an initiative that was created to help increase awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health. Led by student-athletes, the Rally Around Mental Health Committee offers educational programming and activities to promote mental health, resources for seeking help, and supports ongoing conversations about mental health through designated RAMH games for each sport. Visit the marketing and promotions table on the Virtue Field concourse for more information.
DOUBLE DOSE OF WEEKLY AWARDS
America East rewarded a pair of Catamounts with weekly accolades on Monday. Goalie
Aron Runarsson was named Defensive Player of the Week and
Frosti Brynjólfsson was tabbed as the Rookie of the Week. Runarsson totaled six saves and logged a pair of clean sheets for the Cats. Brynjólfsson had an impressive week with five points on one goal and three assists. The award is Brynjólfsson's first career weekly conference honor.
FOUR-GOAL OUTBURST
UVM is coming off a four-goal effort against Binghamton. The rout is the second time the Cats have netted four goals in a match this year after beating Harvard 4-2 on Sept. 13. The last time the Catamounts recorded two four-goal games in the same season was 2002 – a 5-2 victory over Siena and a 4-2 win against Hartford.
SCOUTING COLGATE
The Raiders will make their way to Burlington for the first time since 2013. Colgate was picked to finish second in the Patriot League preseason rankings and have posted a 1-4-3 record against non-conference opponents this season, including a pair of draws versus two nationally-ranked teams. In the season opener, the Raiders earned a scoreless draw with No. 20 Portland then again versus No. 22 New Hampshire on Sept. 6. Drew Fischer paces the team with six points on two goals and two assists. The freshman sits at No. 5 in the Patriot League with 29 shot attempts. Patriot League Preseason All-Conference honoree Christian Clarke and the defensive unit have surrendered a 1.22 goals per game, the fifth-best average in the league. Goalie Jacob Harris has stopped the second-most shots (46) in the conference and has logged the fifth-best save percentage (.730).
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Cats and Raiders will meet for the 16th time as the Green and Gold own an 8-5-2 edge. Vermont won seven of the first eight meetings but the series has evened out recently. Last year, the two programs ended a five-year hiatus and Colgate clipped UVM 2-1 in Hamilton, New York.
