HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vandals were on the offensive attack early in the contest. Bridget Daley lined a low shot through traffic but UVM netminder Kacey Lambertson (6 saves) picked the ball out of the air for the easy save.
- The Catamounts had a solid chance in the 30th minute with a corner kick. Casey Garfinkel sent a feed into the middle of the box and Anna Keimel leaped up for the header but Idaho goalie Makayla Presgrave (2 saves) punched the ball away.
- The Vandals produced the only goal of the afternoon in the 43rd minute. On a corner kick, Haley Sbrega sent a line drive to the far end of the box where Wiencek headed the ball into the right side of the net.
- In the 80th minute, Garfinkel set up a free kick next to the 18-yard box on the right side of the field. The senior bent a shot towards the net but the ball flew inches over the crossbar.
- Aly Spencer gave the Cats one final opportunity in the 89th minute but her attempt from 25 yards out was too wide of the near post.
