LAST TIME OUT
Despite a tight game for most of the first half, Albany pulled away late in the first period and handed Vermont an 18-7 setback on Wednesday afternoon.
Elise Koehl recorded her third hat trick in the last four games and fifth overall this season. The junior picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover.
Elena McWright added two goals on four shot attempts.
Sabrina Tattersfield,
MacKenzie Bolt, and
Bailey Saneman rounded out the scoring attack for the Cats with one goal apiece.
Maddy Kuras set a new conference season-high with 13 saves.
REACHING THE CENTURY MARK
Kuras is five ground balls short of moving into the top-10 on the school's career ground balls list. The junior netminder has accrued 95 ground balls in her three years and she is chasing Natalie Jones '12 for 10th place with 100 career ground balls.
ON THE OFFENSIVE
Koehl has been one of the top offensive scoring threats in America East this season. The junior transfer ranks in the America East's top-10 in three out of four offensive categories – sixth in goals (30), seventh in shots (67), and ninth in points (34).
IT'S ALL ABOUT DISTRIBUTION
Bernier's senior campaign of 16 assists is only three assists shy of cracking the top-10 on UVM's single season assists list. Two years ago, the Falmouth, Maine native tallied 26 assists for the third-highest single season total. She has racked up 53 assists in her career – the fourth most by a Catamount.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats are one of three America East teams with an unblemished conference record, alongside Stony Brook and Albany. In the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, UNH was picked just ahead of UVM in fourth place. In conference play, New Hampshire has the third-highest scoring offense (19.0 points per game) and second-best defense (4.67 goals allowed per game) trailing only top-ranked Stony Brook. Carly Wooters sits fourth in the conference with 11 goals during the league slate. Krissy Schafer, the team's overall leading scorer with 29 goals, has netted the sixth-most goals (9) against America East foes. Goalie Kate Clancy has registered the third-lowest goals-against average (5.93) and fourth-best save percentage (.517) during the conference season.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts will try to end a slight two-game skid against the Wildcats as UNH holds a 31-8 edge over UVM. Prior to the last two meetings, Vermont had won five games in a row against its twin state rival. The series has seen some competitive matches of late as the last four contests have been decided by three goals or less.
WHO'S NEXT
