BURLINGTON, Vt. – UVM junior Elise Koehl matched a single-game record with eight goals as the Catamounts cruised to a 17-10 victory over Siena on Wednesday afternoon at Virtue Field. Vermont evens its overall record at 2-2 while Siena falls to 0-2.

Koehl became only the third Catamount to net eight goals in a single game and the first since Emilie Clark during the 2007 season. UVM had seven players record a point on the afternoon. Alex Bernier added five points with four assists and one goal. Elena McWright followed with four points on three assists and one goal. Jenna Janes, Ali Korin, and Sabrina Tattersfield scored two goals apiece. Maddy Kuras earned her second victory of the season and made 11 saves.
 
Alexis Deaken guided the Saints with five points and scooped up two ground balls. Kerry Gerety notched a hat trick and won five draw controls. Sammy Horton drew the loss in goal and stopped six shots.
 
The Catamounts came roaring out the gate with four goals in the opening 3:16 as Koehl registered the early hat trick. After Siena got on the scoreboard, UVM scored seven of the next nine goals of the period and went into the break leading 10-3.
 
The Saints mounted a small comeback with three straight scores to begin the second half and cut the deficit to 10-6 by the 23:47 mark. The Green and Gold countered with three unanswered goals of their own and pushed the lead to 13-6. Siena continued to claw back into the contest with four goals in an eight-minute stretch, including three from Deaken. UVM held off Siena for good by scoring the final three goals of the afternoon, including two from Koehl, for the final margin of victory.

With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate another $100 to the Boys and Girls Club of Burlington, bringing this year's total to 106 wins and $10,600.
 
Vermont will wrap up its two-game homestand against Manhattan on Saturday (March 3).
