LAST TIME OUT
Senior
Elena McWright registered her first hat trick of the season but the Catamounts suffered a 15-6 setback at Marist last Saturday. McWright complimented her three goals with a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover. UVM had three players score one goal each –
MacKenzie Bolt,
Courtney Cole, and
Elise Koehl.
Maddy Kuras recorded eight saves between the pipes.
AMERICA EAST LEADERS
Jenna Janes ranks third among America East scorers with nine goals. She also sits seventh on the conference's points list (11). Kuras has stopped 28 shots this season – the most by a conference goalie.
Morgan Furbay has won the second-most draw controls (14) in the league (14), only one shy of Binghamton's Rebecca Golderman and Stony Brook's Keri McCarthy.
CLIMBING THE RANKS
Kuras continues to climb the all-time saves list. The junior came into the season with the ninth-most saves (203) in program history and has moved up into eighth place with 231 career saves after last weekend's contest at Marist.
ALL-TIME ASSISTS LIST
Alex Bernier has cracked the top-10 on UVM's all-time assists list with 41 assists. She has moved into an eighth-place tie with Wendy Posillico '93. She holds the third-best season in school history after handing out 26 assists as a junior.
SCOUTING SIENA
Like the Catamounts, the Saints opened the 2018 season against Colgate but suffered a 16-6 defeat. Prior to the opener with the Raiders, Siena was picked to finish eighth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. Reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year Alexis Deaken returns for her sophomore season after netting the fifth-most goals (39) in the conference. She also led the team in ground balls (30) and caused turnovers (15). Julia Sardella finished third on the squad in goals (19) and fourth in points (21) a year ago. Sammy Horton spent every minute between the pipes last season and recorded 168 saves.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts have dominated the all-time series with a 17-2 record against the Saints. UVM owns an unblemished 11-0 mark against Siena in Catamount Country. The Cats won the first 11 contests before the streak was snapped in 2010. The Green and Gold rattled off six more victories before the Saints reached the win column 12-10 last season.
