SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Providence 6-2-0 (3-1-0 WHEA) enters a two-game weekend in which they host the Maine Black Bears Friday night before traveling to Burlington for the Sunday afternoon contest. Sophomore Maureen Murphy returns as the leading scorer with 28 points (19 goals, 9 assists) last season and continues her paces in 2018-19 with a team-high 14 points (8 goals, 6 assists). Christina Putigna is the reigning Hockey East Player of the Week after netting two goals and adding an assist at No. 5 Boston College (Nov. 3). Rookie Sara Hjalmarsson has 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) through eight games and is representing Sweden at the Four Nations Cup in Saskatchewan. Colchester, Vermont native Madison Myers guards the Friars' goal with the league's third best goals-against average (1.17) and save percentage (.951). Providence finished 17-13-7 (12-7-5 WHEA) a year ago for second in Hockey East, but were ousted by UConn in the league's quarterfinals.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Sunday's game is the 49th all-time meeting between the Catamounts and Providence, dating back to Nov. 25, 2000. Vermont has a 15-29-4 record in the all-time series and a 2-2-1 mark against the Friars in the last five contests. The two programs last met Jan. 7, 2018 at Gutterson Fieldhouse and skated to a 1-1 tie.
Saana Valkama scored the lone goal for UVM who went on to outshoot the Friars 30-25. Vermont's last win against Providence came Feb. 26, 2017 at Schneider Arena where
Ève-Audrey Picard and
Alyssa Gorecki netted two goals each for a 5-2 win. Picard, Gorecki, and Valkama have been able to put up points against the Friars in past games. Picard has totaled six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in four games against Providence while Gorecki has six points (3 goals, 3 assists) and Valkama has seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in nine meetings.

ŠKODOVÁ WINS HOCKEY EAST WEEKLY HONOR
Blanka Škodová was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week Monday (Nov. 5) at league headquarters. The rookie goaltender stopped all 42 shots faced in five periods of action at Gutterson Fieldhouse. She entered Tuesday's (Oct. 30) game against No. 8 Northeastern in the second period and registered 17 saves against Hockey East's top offense. Later on in the week, she recorded her first career shutout with 25 saves in 1-0 win over UNH. The weekly honor is the first of Škodová's career and the first won by a Catamount this season.

FLAT FEE REAL ESTATE NIGHT
This Sunday we will be giving out 250 hats to the first fans through the door thanks to Flat Fee Real Estate. Once inside, visit the Flat Fee Real Estate table and enter into the drawing for a signed women's hockey jersey.

SKATE WITH THE CATS
We will also be hosting a post-game Skate With the Cats where we welcome fans onto the ice to skate with the team. Everyone on the ice must have a helmet! The Catamounts will be wearing lavender jerseys during warm ups and Skate With the Cats in their continued efforts to support Rally Against Cancer, presented by Vermont Custom Closets. Fans will have the opportunity to buy the jerseys during the skate for $100 with proceeds going to the UVM Cancer Center.
CATS IN THE PROS
It's a weekend off for the Vermont alumnae in the professional hockey ranks. Amanda Pelkey '15,
Madison Litchfield '17 and the Boston Pride (2-1-0) sit third in the NWHL standings through three games. On the CWHL side,
Taylor Willard '18 and the Montreal Canadiennes are tied with the Calgary Inferno for first in the league.

NEXT UP
A two-game road trip follows Sunday's game as the Catamounts who visit Boston University next week. UVM opens the series Friday (Nov. 16) at 7 p.m. and closes it with a 3 p.m. game Saturday (Nov. 17) at Walter Brown Arena.
