COACH'S QUOTE
"It's obviously frustrating right now to not get the results we want," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "As coaches, we are starting to see consistency and improvement in the way we play and that is a process that will lead to the results we want."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU's first goal came with 6:47 left in the opening frame on a goal by Jesse Compher. The Terriers' forward neared the Vermont goal on a partial breakaway and patiently lifted the puck over a stretched out Melissa Black (20 saves).
- Abby Cleary nearly tied the game before the first period expired when she stickhandled through a pair of BU defenders before getting denied on a wide open shot by Corinne Schroeder (26 saves).
- In the second period, Kristina Shanahan won an offensive-zone faceoff to Saana Valkama who one-timed a shot on goal. The puck squeezed through the pads of Schroeder, but the BU goaltender fell on the puck before it crossed the line.
- Mackenna Parker netted her first career goal with 7:28 left in the second period while on the rush. She received a pass from Compher and quickly shot the puck to beat Black.
- Vermont had four consecutive power plays in the third period and outshot the Terriers' 8-4, but were unable to find the back of the net. Maude Poulin-Labelle and Sammy Kolowrat both had shots from the point that fooled Schroeder, but ricocheted off her pads wide of the goal. Kristina Schuler put the game out of reach with BU's third goal late in the period.
