Game Notes: Vermont | Louisville
LAST WIN OVER A CURRENT ACC OPPONENT
Sophomore Mike Trimboli led the Catamounts with 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds as UVM stunned 14th-ranked Boston College 77-63 at the Conte Forum on Nov. 13, 2006. Senior Chris Holm picked up his third career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE NOTE
In two of the first three games, a UVM player has recorded a double-double for the first time during the
John Becker era.
Anthony Lamb opened the 2018-19 campaign with 19 points and 14 rebounds at Boston University in the season opener, then
Robin Duncan finished one rebound shy of a triple-double with 16 points and 10 assists against NVU-Lyndon on Wednesday night. Lamb became the fourth Vermont player to register a double-double in a season opener since the turn of the century.
JUMPING OUT OF THE GATE
Lamb has logged 50 points through the first three games of the season, the third-highest point total through the first three contests of a campaign since 2010-11. Evan Fjeld scored 68 points in 2010-11 and
Payton Henson trailed with 58 points two years ago.
CATS VS. CURRENT ACC
Friday's matchup will be the first ever meeting between Vermont and Louisville but the Cats have played 25 games against current members of the ACC. UVM has beat Boston College three times and the 13th-seeded Catamounts upset No. 4 seed Syracuse 60-57 in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. In the last 10 meetings with the ACC, Vermont has faced five ranked opponents and squared off in the NCAA Tournament three times.
SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
Out of a 15-team league, Louisville was selected to finish 11th in this year's ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Under the new guidance of Chris Mack, the Cardinals own a +31.5-scoring margin, the 21st-best mark in the country. UofL has made the third-most free throws (73) in Division I, thanks to a 42-free throw night against Nicholls State in the season opener. Five Cardinals head into Friday's game averaging double figures, led by Jordan Nwora with a 16.0 scoring average. Nwora is coming off a 20-point outing against Southern on Tuesday night. Steven Enoch follows with 14.0 points per game. The UConn transfer has shot 77.8% (7-for-9) from the floor this season and he is a perfect 14-for-14 at the charity stripe.
