BURLINGTON, Vt. – The eighth-ranked Northeastern Huskies (7-1-1, 6-0-1 WHEA) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and never looked back as they went on the defeat the Vermont Catamounts (1-4-2, 1-4-0 WHEA) Tuesday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Huskies went on attack early with an overwhelming shot-advantage that ultimately led to an opening goal by Katie Cipra. Matti Hartman dished a pass to Cipra in the slot where she ripped a shot under the glove of Melissa Black (7 saves).
- Alina Mueller and Chloé Aurard added goals later on in the period for a 3-0 lead through the first 20 minutes.
- Vermont applied pressure in the second period and were rewarded with Val Caldwell's first goal of the season as she fooled Aerin Frankel (13Â saves) in net. Maude Poulin-Labelle and Ève-Audrey Picard assisted on the sophomore forward's marker.
- Blanka Škodová (17 saves) entered the game to start the middle frame and halted all 11 shots she faced that period.
- The rookie goaltender went on to stop six more shots in the third period for zero goals allowed through two periods of work.
- Northeastern's Tori Sullivan sealed the game with an empty-netter in the final minutes as the Catamounts brought on the extra attacker.
NOTES
- The Tuesday game marks the first of a three-game homestand as well as one of four games in the next seven days for Vermont.
