COACH'S QUOTE
"Credit to Northeastern as they were the better team tonight," said head coach Jim Plumer. We weren't able to match their intensity at the start. We've got to find a way to start games stronger."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Huskies went on attack early with an overwhelming shot-advantage that ultimately led to an opening goal by Katie Cipra. Matti Hartman dished a pass to Cipra in the slot where she ripped a shot under the glove of Melissa Black (7 saves).
  • Alina Mueller and Chloé Aurard added goals later on in the period for a 3-0 lead through the first 20 minutes.
  • Vermont applied pressure in the second period and were rewarded with Val Caldwell's first goal of the season as she fooled Aerin Frankel (13 saves) in net. Maude Poulin-Labelle and Ève-Audrey Picard assisted on the sophomore forward's marker.
  • Blanka Škodová (17 saves) entered the game to start the middle frame and halted all 11 shots she faced that period.
  • The rookie goaltender went on to stop six more shots in the third period for zero goals allowed through two periods of work.
  • Northeastern's Tori Sullivan sealed the game with an empty-netter in the final minutes as the Catamounts brought on the extra attacker.
NOTES
  • The Tuesday game marks the first of a three-game homestand as well as one of four games in the next seven days for Vermont.
WHAT'S NEXT
